About FEN

L.E. Fen is a self-taught oil painter based in St. Petersburg, Florida. Raised on Florida’s Gulf Coast, he earned an MFA in Poetry before turning his creative focus to figurative and portrait painting.

Working primarily in oil, his work explores facial expression and posture to build narrative in representational painting, creating cinematic scenes that suggest a larger story. Florida’s people, landscape, and culture remain an ongoing source of both conflict and inspiration.

His paintings have been exhibited in galleries and public art exhibitions throughout Florida, including his first solo exhibition in Gulfport. In 2026, he participated in a painting workshop with Mike Carson in California, and he was recently elected to the board of the Warehouse Arts District Association in St. Petersburg.
